An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Woking Borough Council's Parking Services team as a Car Parks Ambassador.
The Parking Services team plays a vital role in supporting residents, visitors and businesses across the borough whilst generating an important income stream for the Council. We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused individual who can help us deliver a first-class parking service and provide a positive experience for all users of our car parks.
The role of Car Parks Ambassador will support the day-to-day operation of the Council's car parks and parking systems. Acting as a key point of contact for customers, you will work within our control room environment and across our car parks, helping to ensure facilities remain safe, welcoming and operational. Full details can be found in the job profile, but key responsibilities include:
- Responding to customer enquiries and helping them through intercom, telephone, email and occasional face-to-face contact.
- Monitoring parking equipment and systems from the control room and responding to alarms, incidents and faults.
- Supporting the maintenance and replenishment of parking equipment and identifying issues requiring escalation.
- Undertaking regular inspections and patrols of Council car parks to identify defects, safety concerns and customer service improvements.
- Assisting with traffic management, lift supervision and the security of Council-operated car parks.
- Monitoring CCTV systems in accordance with relevant procedures and escalating incidents appropriately.
- Supporting administrative tasks, data collection and performance monitoring within the Parking Services team.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, emergency services, contractors and partner organisations to maintain excellent service standards.
This is a varied and rewarding role that combines customer service, operational monitoring and practical problem-solving. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in delivering high-quality public services and can remain calm and professional when dealing with challenging situations. Full training and support will be provided.
The Council offers in return a generous flexi time scheme, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, discounted health and leisure membership, excellent training opportunities and a range of additional employee benefits.
The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for this post. An assessment may be required. The successful candidate will be required to work to a rota system and will need to obtain Surrey and Sussex Police vetting clearance as part of the role.
