Job Introduction

Casual Duty Supervisor

Grade 3, SCP 3 – fixed at £13.47 per hour

An excellent opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of civic events, providing professional supervision, high-quality customer service and a positive experience for all users of the Town Hall Function Suite.

We have some fantastic opportunities available to work within East Staffordshire Borough Council as a casual Duty Supervisor in the Civic Function Suite at the Town Hall. We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our team supporting the delivery of a wide range of events at the Town Hall.

In this role you will be expected to provide evening and weekend event supervision on a rota basis with other team members including serving alcoholic beverages from the bar, cash handling and providing excellent customer service to hirers of the Town Hall Function Suite.

Please note that the supervisory aspect of this role relates to overseeing events not staff supervision.

Ideally, you’ll bring experience of effective customer care management, the ability to deal with competing demands and be able to work in a team. We’re looking for someone with a flexible and adaptable attitude who can be calm under pressure.

We are looking for somebody who can work unsocial hours (evenings and weekends), possess good written and verbal communication skills and be able to lift and move equipment if required.

Don’t worry if you don’t meet all the desirable criteria as full training will be provided, and we welcome applications from those willing to learn.

This is a casual role with hours that vary depending on the number of events each month. Please note that there is no guarantee of a set number of shifts.

The appointment will be subject to a Basic Level Disclosure & Barring Service check.

Full details of the job role and the essential requirements for the job holder are detailed in the Job Description and Person Specification.

Closing date for applications: Sunday 26 July 2026

If you would like an informal discussion about this opportunity, please contact Nicola James (Civic Function Support Officer) by emailing nicola.james@eaststaffsbc.gov.uk
