Are you passionate about supporting children with disabilities and their families to achieve the best possible outcomes? We are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic, and child-centred Family Support Workers to join our Children with Disabilities Team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with children and young people with disabilities and their families, helping them access support, build resilience, and achieve positive outcomes. You will play a key role in providing practical and emotional support, coordinating services, and ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
The role
As a Children with Disabilities Family Support Worker, you will:
- Build positive relationships with children, young people, and their families.
- Undertake direct work with children and young people with a range of disabilities and additional needs.
- Assess family support needs and develop outcome-focused plans.
- Assist families to access universal, community, and specialist services.
- Support families during periods of crisis and change.
- Work in partnership with education, health, social care, and voluntary sector organisations.
- Facilitate short break opportunities and promote social inclusion.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to assessments and reviews.
- Ensure safeguarding remains central to all aspects of practice.
The roles are fixed term until 31 March 2028
What's needed?
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience of working with children and young people with disabilities and their families.
- Has a good understanding of safeguarding, child development, and disability legislation.
- Is skilled in engaging and communicating with children, young people, and families.
- Can work independently while contributing effectively to a multi-agency team.
- Is organised, resilient, and able to manage a varied workload.
- Has experience of producing accurate records, reports, and support plans.
- Holds a relevant qualification in childcare, health and social care, family support, or a related field, or can demonstrate equivalent experience.
