A unique opportunity has arisen for an organised and driven person to join our team to provide high-quality support to our Inclusion and School Attendance Service.
What you’ll be doing
In the role of Education Support Officer, here’s an example of what you’ll be doing to make an impact:
• Provide day-to-day administrative support to the team, including handling enquiries by phone and email, preparing documents and maintaining accurate records.
• Use council systems to input, update and retrieve case information, ensuring data is accurate, timely and handled confidentially.
• Use Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel, to produce letters, reports, spreadsheets and maintain tracking systems.
Handle sensitive and confidential information in line with Council policies and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, partners and members of the public, responding politely and professionally to enquiries.
• Support in implementing and issuing of Attendance and Holiday Penalty Notices and preparation of legal documentation
• Support in tracking and logging of children missing education
• Logging of Police Notifications
• Support in other areas of the service when required
We are particularly interested in hearing from those with experience in the area of:
• Children and Young People
• Universal services across education, health and social care
• Collaborative Working
About you
You must have:
• Recent administrative experience in a busy office environment.
• Previous experience in an administrative or customer support role, particularly within a local authority or public sector environment, is desirable but not essential
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to respond politely and patiently to service users
• Experience of working with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, to produce, update and maintain a range of documents and spreadsheets
• The ability to manage competing priorities and maintain attention to detail.
• An understanding of the need for confidentiality when dealing with service user information.
• An ability to learn new IT systems quickly
