Purpose of the Post
To provide high-quality teaching and learning in the Primary phase, ensuring that every child achieves their full potential in line with the values and ethos of a Catholic school.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive and well-structured lessons that meet the needs of all pupils.
- Set high expectations for all learners and ensure progress across the curriculum, particularly in reading, writing and maths.
- Use assessment to inform teaching and provide appropriate challenge and support.
- Create a stimulating and well-managed classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Promote a love of learning and celebrate pupil achievement.
Catholic Ethos and Values
- Uphold and actively promote the Catholic ethos and mission of the school in all areas of school life. “Together, in the spirit of love and forgiveness, our family learns to grow with hope and joy.”
- Participate in and contribute to the religious life of the school, including prayer, liturgy and assemblies.
- Support children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
Safeguarding and Pupil Welfare
- Ensure a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment for all pupils.
- Be vigilant in identifying safeguarding concerns and follow school policies and procedures appropriately.
- Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils that promote positive behaviour and well-being.
Collaboration and Professionalism
- Work closely with colleagues as part of a collaborative, supportive team.

Person Specification Summary
Essential
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Commitment to the Catholic ethos of the school
Proven track record of high-quality classroom teaching
Ability to motivate and inspire pupils
Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
Desirable
Experience teaching in the Primary Phase
Practising Catholic or understanding of Catholic education
Experience with KS1 & KS2 assessments and moderation
Experience supporting pupils with additional needs
Contribution to wider school life and extracurricular activities
