Chesnut Lodge School caters for pupils aged 2 – 16 years, with complex needs arising from physical and medical difficulties. Currently, there are 87 pupils on roll. The school is well-resourced and enjoys a high profile within the local community.
The Governors are looking to appoint adaptable and enthusiastic Classroom Support Assistants who are passionate about working with pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Fixed term initally until July 17th 2026 - subject to funding
After receiving appropriate training, successful candidates will be expected to work on a 1:1 basis with a primary-aged pupil with ASC, supporting their educational development. The role will also involve meeting behavioural and intimate care needs, following therapy programmes, and assisting during swimming sessions.
Please note: this position requires you to actively participate in swimming sessions, which includes entering the pool to provide support.
This demanding and rewarding role will require good organisational skills and the ability to work effectively both as a key member of the team and independently. The successful applicants will:

Have the ability to work effectively within a team environment, understanding and respecting the roles and responsibilities of the different staff in school
Successful applicants will be required to complete appropriate training programmes, including those required to meet the physical, including intimate care, feeding and medical care needs of the students.
