Scale Points 1 – 3 £24,413 - £25,185 plus SEN allowance (£1455)

Classroom Support Assistant post, to start as soon as possible 1:1, supporting educational and personal needs. - initially until July 2026

Chesnut Lodge School caters for pupils aged 2 – 16 years, with complex needs arising from physical and medical difficulties. Currently there are 86 pupils on roll. The school is well resourced and enjoys a high profile within the local community.

The Governors are seeking to employ a flexible Classroom Support Assistant with a positive attitude and a passion for working with pupils with SEN. Following training, the post will require them to work 1:1 with a Primary student with ASC supporting their education. Following training, you will also be required to meet the behavioural and intimate care needs, follow associated therapy programmes and support swimming sessions. Candidates should note that this role will require you to physically enter the swimming pool to support with swim sessions.

This physically demanding role will require good organisational skills and the ability to work effectively both as a key member of the team and independently. The successful applicants will:

  • Have the flexibility to adapt routines according to the day’s needs
  • Have the ability to work effectively within a team environment, understanding and respecting the roles and responsibilities of the different staff in school

Successful applicants will be required to complete appropriate training programmes, including those required to meet the physical, including intimate care, feeding and medical care needs of the students.
