This job is Part Time - Term Time Only for 14 hours per week and 38 weeks per year.
It is offered on a Temporary basis until 31.08.2027.
Approximate start date October 2026.
St Michaels Middle School is looking to recruit a dedicated individual to undertake general cleaning duties within our school. We are looking for someone who takes pride in creating a clean, hygienic and safe environment and who is able to work well as part of our existing team.
You will be required to take responsibility for an allocated area, to carry out cleaning tasks set out in the school’s cleaning schedule. This will be inclusive of the swimming pool area and studio gym set within our school grounds.
There will be a requirement to work with limited supervision, and to take responsibility for unlocking the school grounds.
This role can be split into 2 positions, or the roles can be combined if preferred. The details of hours required for each role are listed below.
Role 1
A total of 4 hours per week.
Hours to be worked Thursday and Friday, 3:30pm - 5:30pm
Role 2
A total of 10 hours per week.
Hours to be worked Monday - Friday, 7am - 9am
Both roles can be combined to offer a total of 14 hours per week.
Key responsibilities:
● To carry out cleaning tasks set out in the school's cleaning schedule.
● To use all cleaning materials and equipment in a safe and proper manner and in accordance with any
instructions and specifications provided.
● To report the breakdown of any cleaning equipment or any perceived hazards in the workplace to the
Headteacher/ Site Manager (or other nominated supervisor).
● To observe health and safety and security requirements.
● To complete any appropriate records or documentation required by the Headteacher/ Site Manager.
● To maintain good working relationships with other school staff and to cooperate with reasonable
changes to daily work routines to assist the smooth operation of the school.
● To ensure that work undertaken complies with stated requirements and undertake appropriate
training, as required.
● Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people in accordance with the Trust’s
safeguarding and child protection policy.

Keeping Children Safe in Education
The school will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. Founded in 1971 St Michael’s Middle School is a Church of England school set in stunning grounds in Colehill, on the outskirts of Wimborne Minster, Dorset. With around 600 pupils, our school covers year groups 5-8 (ages 9 to 13) and is consistently oversubscribed on first choice applications.
Middle schools have the advantage of being able to blend together the best parts of primary school teaching with subject specialist teachers and facilities. Pupils study a full breadth of subjects over their four years at the school. Our facilities include science laboratories, product design and cooking workshops, specialist music rooms, ICT suites and PE facilities, including an indoor swimming pool.
