About the role

Clerk to Governors Broadwindsor CE VC Primary School Are you highly organised, detail-oriented and looking for a flexible role that makes a real difference to school leadership and governance? Broadwindsor CE VC Primary School is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Clerk to Governors to support our dedicated Governing Body. As Clerk, you will play a key role in ensuring the effective operation of the Governing Body, working closely with the Headteacher and Chair of Governors. You will organise meetings, prepare agendas, take accurate minutes, provide procedural guidance, keep governors informed of legislative and policy updates, and ensure the highest levels of confidentiality and professionalism. We are looking for someone who:
  • Has excellent administrative, organisational and ICT skills.
  • Possesses strong written communication and literacy skills.
  • Can work independently and manage their own workload effectively.
  • Has a keen eye for detail and can produce accurate meeting records.
  • Is able to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion at all times.
Previous experience as a Clerk to Governors would be an advantage, but it is not essential. Full training and ongoing support will be provided through Dorset Governor Services and the National Governance Association (NGA). About the role
  • Approximately 9 Full Governing Body meetings per year.
  • Meetings are held in the afternoon or early evening, either in person or virtually.
  • Minute writing and other administrative duties can be completed flexibly from home.
  • Term Time Only
  • 2 hours per week, 38 weeks per year
Salary Actual Salary £1,202 - £1,221 pro rated per annum (Grade 5, SCP 5-6) The salary shown is pro rata and includes paid annual leave and bank holiday entitlements. Pay is made in equal monthly instalments and adjusted where necessary at the beginning or end of employment. The pro rata salary shown is based on the number of hours and weeks worked and includes appropriate paid annual leave and bank holiday entitlements.

The salary quoted is the annual salary for the position at the time of advert. The salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments and will be adjusted at the start of employment and again if leaving part way through the school year to ensure the correct salary is received for the work completed in an academic year.

This role is UK based and your Right to Work will need to be established as part of the appointment process.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. Keeping Children Safe in Education

Broadwindsor Primary School will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who is not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.

Salary range

  • £1,202 - £1,221 per year
