    A bit about us:

Liverpool is home to vibrant, energetic, and engaged communities, people who take real ownership of their local area and are passionate about making our city a better place. We've got ambitious targets to meet and we need people who are driven, dynamic and ready to deliver the very best for our communities. Public service is more important than ever, and this role represents a real opportunity to make a difference to our communities by transforming the way we work and placing our residents at the heart of everything we do.

Working at Liverpool City Council provides an opportunity to contribute to your community and make a positive impact on the lives of residents. Our values shape how we work to deliver public services, and how we communicate with the residents we serve. We care about the best outcomes for local people, through our public services.

We are proud of our world-famous thriving city with its rich culture, as well as affordable housing, good schools, beautiful green spaces – there’s really something for everyone!

    The role:

Liverpool City Council is looking to recruit one Co-opted Member of the authority's Constitution and Standards Committee.

The Constitution and Standards Committee is a key component within our arrangements to support good governance and good standards of ethical behaviour at Liverpool City Council, with the Committee's main purpose being to review and advise upon the Council’s ethical framework, Constitution, and governance arrangements.

As a Co-opted Member, you will have the ability to challenge ideas, contribute positively to policy development, and promote the highest standards of behaviour, in accordance with the Nolan Principles on standards in public life.

Previous experience of council committees and/or ethical standards in public office in the context of a large urban local authority is desirable.

Please note: the successful applicant will need to be available to attend approximately six meetings of the Constitution and Standards Committee in any year and any associated training and development events, as well as time required for preparation of meetings.

In the event that a Hearings Sub-Committee is convened, the successful applicant will be required to attend the sub-committee and act as the chair. We expect that the successful applicant will need to be able to attend meetings in person and be contactable throughout the year. The appointment will be made for three years.

If you are passionate about promoting ethical behaviour, this Co-opted Member role is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to Liverpool City Council’s continual improvement and development.
