Job description
You will lead the Energy Specialist Service Team (eight team members and three direct reports) in delivering outstanding service to over a thousand government and public sector organisations, with a specific responsibility to personally develop and manage strategic relationships with identified key customers. You will oversee and develop the retention and growth strategies in priority sectors, applying your commercial expertise and category knowledge to identify and deliver great value for our customers. As a member of our senior management team you will play an active role in strategic planning within the energy team and will also contribute to the activities of the wider Estates category group.
Locations
The successful candidate(s) will be able to agree a contractual workplace from those locations listed in this advert. When selecting your location listed in this job advert please be aware that this will be your contractual base location with a requirement to spend a minimum of 60% of your working time in this organisational workplace.
Your time spent on official duties at workplace locations other than your contractual office such as supplier, customer or partner locations required to perform your role is included in the 60% attendance.

Person specification
The successful candidate will:
- Lead the Energy Specialist Service Team (inc. line management of three direct reports);
- Own (and continuously develop) commercial energy strategies in priority sectors - with specific focus on supporting mission-led priorities to identify and deliver outstanding customer value;
- Develop and manage strategic relationships with nominated key customers and sectors - providing commercial advice and guidance where required;
- Engage with potential new customers - providing commercial advice and guidance where required;
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the energy category as a proactive leader within the energy senior management team;
- Develop and manage collaborative relationships with key internal stakeholders within the energy team, the CCS Customer Experience Directorate, the Estates Category Group and any other relevant teams.
Technical skills
We'll assess you against these technical skills during the selection process:
- Strong commercial background preferably in the energy industry or similar
- Communicates with clarity and impact through a range of written and verbal medium
- Ability to develop and manage strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders and to collaborate effectively to deliver strong commercial outcomes
- Ability to lead, engage and manage people, creating a high-performance culture in order to deliver against challenging objectives
- Applies commercial thinking in the development and delivery of customer growth and retention strategies
