Contract Type: Permanent, full time (35 hours per week)

Salary: Starting from £40,649 per annum (London weighted salary) or £36,073 per annum (Regional salary), dependant on experience

Grade: 8

Reporting Office: London, Stratford or Manchester, Trafford

Persona: Agile Worker: 20% - 40% of contractual hours to be worked from reporting office/working location (hybrid working)

Join our Corporate Communications Team at L&Q:

We’re looking for a Communications Officer to play a key role in our Corporate Communications team, working closely with colleagues in our Property and Investment and Customer Services directorates.

In this role, you’ll support our Communications Managers to deliver engaging and effective content for our external, internal and resident channels. You’ll help communicate the work we do to maintain and build homes, deliver frontline services and invest in communities. This will include supporting key projects that make a difference for residents, drafting and editing copy for a range of audiences, and helping plan and deliver campaigns.

The successful candidate will demonstrate passion for our social purpose, strong communications skills and the drive to grow and learn in a large organisation. You should be comfortable working collaboratively with colleagues at all levels to help deliver our communications objectives.

Your impact in the role:

  • Work closely with the Communications Managers for Property and Investment and Customer Services, and service delivery teams and partners to deliver effective and impactful communications campaigns and activity to raise internal and external awareness of, and engagement with key products and services
  • Produce, edit or proof copy as required to cover a wide range of communications channels and collateral, including news stories, web and social media content, as well as publications, reports and briefings.
  • Support L&Q to maintain a positive reputation by producing timely, accurate and appropriate reactive responses to Property and Investment and Customer Services media enquiries
  • Promote communications best practice and upskill Property and Investment and Customer Services colleagues where appropriate, by helping them to self-serve through tools including (but not exclusive to) templates, how to guides and training
  • Ensure health and safety, regulatory & budget governance and compliance for areas under the job holder’s control
  • Manage risks associated with areas under the jobholder’s control. This includes personal responsibility for the accuracy and quality of any corporate material or communications collateral produced

What you'll bring:

  • Degree or Higher National Qualification in relevant subject or significant experience of producing corporate level communications collateral
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a comparable, fast-paced communications team environment
  • Proven track record of planning and delivering communications activity
  • Proven track record of successfully producing high quality copy and communications materials for internal and external audiences
  • Experience of managing media communications, and responding to press enquiries
  • Excellent writing and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • IT literate - MS Office, database management or equivalent
