Site Based Worker: Contractual hours to be worked from allocated sites, with ad hoc office attendance as required

As a Communities Manager within our Communities Team, you’ll lead on providing crucial support to residents affected by regeneration projects, major remedial works, or the need to rehoused their current properties, ensuring they feel informed, supported, and treated with care throughout periods of disruption or transition.

This is a role for someone who is driven, compassionate, highly organised, and committed to delivering outstanding customer experience. You’ll manage and motivate a small team, work collaboratively with partners across L&Q and beyond, and help design and deliver strategies that have real impact on people’s lives.

Join our Communities Team at L&Q:

  • This is a brand-new role that has been created to lead the Communities team on brand new project based in Edmonton, London.

  • You will be focussed on leading the successful delivery of resident liaison activities and project management on this site where resident’s will be rehoused from their current home.

  • The role will line manage three site-based Communities Coordinators, and you will provide visible best practice management for them across both projects.

  • We are looking for someone with experience of line managing staff on fast paced resident focus projects.

Your impact in the role:

  • We are looking for someone with a passion of delivering high quality communications, resident engagement and project planning. You will be able to actively problem solve, provide on the ground solutions, lead on complaints, and be comfortable dealing with challenging situations on site.

  • Your ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, as well as external stakeholders, will enable you to make the best use of L&Q resources and support the wider group strategy.

  • The role will also get to collaborate with counterparts based in East and West London and be able to deputise for the Senior Communities Manager when required.


What you'll bring:

  • Proven track record of managing community development or resident activities – from inception to completion – on various projects, ideally with excellent knowledge of re-housing, allocations and lettings.

  • You will be an experienced people manager and be able to demonstrate experience of effectively managing site-based staff on challenging projects to contribute positively to high performance.

  • You will have knowledge of leading effective communications associated with regeneration, remediation, decommissioning of buildings or development-based projects.

  • You will have experience and knowledge in delivery of front-line statutory and non-statutory re-housing, CPO’s etc. (desirable)

  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to source and present innovative solutions, as well as oversee the re-housing budget and preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders

  • Knowledge and experience of relevant legislation, tenancies and leases, and formal complaints.

  • Strong track record of using project programme software, including developing complex programmes.

  • Demonstrable stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with a wider range of stakeholders.

  • Experience of public speaking and chairing external and resident meetings.

  • Willingness to travel across sites as required (role is site-based)

  • Ability to remain calm and professional when managing challenging or sensitive situations.
