Could a cup of tea, a warm welcome, and a shared moment of connection help bring a whole community closer together? Lift Barton Hill is looking for a Community Hub Coordinator to work 7.5hrs a week to help us create a space where families, children, and neighbours can connect, belong, and thrive.

At Lift Barton Hill, we believe every child deserves an excellent education, every day. Our community cafe at St Martins Church is more than just a place to grab a coffee – it's where relationships grow, support is offered, and families feel truly welcomed. Funded by the National Lottery, this new role helps us build on the strong ties between our school, families, and the wider community.

We're creating a hub where people can borrow books, access clothing donations, attend skill-building workshops, and find early help when they need it most. This role sits at the heart of that vision.

About the role

You'll look after the day-to-day running of the cafe, making sure it's a welcoming, safe, and inclusive space for everyone. You'll work closely with families, school colleagues, volunteers, and local services to help the cafe become a trusted part of community life. Something about organising a calendar of events where outside agencies run workshops/support groups alongside the cafe.

Key responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming space where visitors feel comfortable and valued
  • Support the daily running of the cafe, including food ordering and managing stock
  • Recruit, support, and coordinate a team of volunteers
  • Build relationships with visitors and signpost them to helpful local services
  • Work with local charities to support families affected by the cost of living crisis
  • Organise training workshops and community events that build skills and knowledge

Who would this suit?

You don't need to have done this exact role before – we're looking for someone with a background in customer service, hospitality, or working with people. Can you balance many tasks at once while staying calm, thoughtful, and organised? Have you supported volunteers, managed budgets, or worked in a cafe or community setting? Those skills will help you succeed here.

You'll have (or be happy to complete) a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate, First Aid training, and allergen awareness training. Most importantly, you'll bring patience, empathy, and the ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

What we offer

  • A meaningful role where you can see the difference you make every day
  • A supportive team culture where your ideas and individuality are valued
  • Ongoing learning and development to help you grow in your role
  • The chance to shape a new community project from the ground up
  • A workplace that truly cares about equality, diversity, and inclusion
