We are seeking 2 x Community Enforcement Officers to join our Environmental Protection Service. You will join a team that provides community reassurance, engaging with public and businesses alike to identify and resolve issues in the towns, villages and rural parts of the borough, either directly or by referral to other departments and agencies. Being part of the wider Environmental Health, Licensing and Resilience Service you will work closely with Environmental Health Officers, Licensing Officers and other staff with the overall aim of making Hertsmere a safer, cleaner and healthier place to live and work.

The role includes a range of monitoring, inspection, checking and enforcement activities. You will check compliance with relevant Councils policies and procedures, providing engagement and reassurance to residents, businesses and other stakeholders. In essence, the Community Enforcement Officers act as the eyes and ears of the Council – reporting, checking, evidence gathering and responding to public and business needs.

The ideal candidate will have up to date knowledge of enviro-crime and environmental protection legislation, a proven track record of excellent customer service, can work independently and find solutions to problems, have excellent communication skills and have a flexible approach to work. It is also essential that this post holder has a full UK driving licence.

The post is offered on a full time, permanent basis (36 hours per week). Generally, the hours of work will be 9am to 5.15pm Monday to Friday, however some evening and weekend work may be required.
