Are you looking for a rewarding career where you can make a difference to the lives of adults and children in Leicestershire? Do you have a passion for providing short term targeted support for adults and children who refer into our OT service? We are developing a new team to triage new referrals and carry out see and solve visits to address short term urgent needs.

About the Role

As a Community Support Worker with OT focus in our new OT Intake and Response Team, you will work alongside Occupational Therapists and an Occupational Therapy Team Manager to triage new referrals, gathering necessary information, carrying out see and solve visits and managing short term risk. We are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals who have a passion for promoting independence and reducing risk.

Our new Intake and Response team, will be responsible for triaging new referrals into the OT Service and will therefore be predominantly office based but will also involve managing short term risk by providing a see and solve function to address non-complex moving and handling issues and transfer difficulties, minor adaptation referrals and equipment provision, signposting to appropriate agencies and progressing cases to the appropriate OT teams for longer term work. We aim to achieve the best outcomes for people across Leicestershire, taking a strengths-based approach and embracing change and new opportunities.

You will be supported by other OTs within the team and your team manager, to ensure you are working within the frames of reference for Occupational Therapy. Where necessary, you will identify and report potential safeguarding, consider mental capacity, and other high-risk situations where a person’s safety or liberty may be at risk. Your team will have an office base at County Hall but there will be the requirement to carry out some see and solve visits.

We are passionate about developing your career in social care.

As a Grade 8 Trainee Community Support Worker you will be in your first CSW role and will be expected to develop experience, knowledge and skills, complete their Learning and Induction Programme and undertake your duties with support and supervision.

As a Grade 9 Community Support Worker you will be expected to have sufficient experience, knowledge and skills to manage your workload under supervision, to deliver a high quality, person centred, accountable statutory social care. This includes demonstrating competency undertaking Care and Support Assessments, Mental Capacity Assessments and making Best Interest decisions.

As a Community Support Worker, there are further opportunities to develop your career in Adult Social Care at Leicestershire County Council, such as the opportunity to apply to undertake a Social Work Apprenticeship, Occupational Therapy Apprenticeship and routes in leadership roles.
