    Connect to Work is a pioneering programme helping people with disabilities, health conditions and complex barriers into employment to find and keep fulfilling jobs. We are looking for passionate and dedicated Employment Specialists to join our dynamic team.

    About the Role:

    As an Connect To Work Employment Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals on their journey to employment. Your responsibilities will include:

    • Providing tailored support: Working closely with individuals to understand their skills, interests, and career goals.
    • Developing personalised action plans: Creating and implementing strategies to overcome barriers to employment, such as identifying suitable job roles, developing job search skills, and building confidence.
    • Building relationships: Networking with employers, building strong relationships with key stakeholders, and advocating for the needs of individuals with disabilities.
    • Providing ongoing support: Offering ongoing support to individuals in their new roles, including workplace adjustments and resolving any challenges they may face.
    • Maintaining accurate records: Keeping detailed records of all interactions and outcomes to ensure we meet ur compliance standards.



    About You:

    • Passionate about supporting people who have challenges: You have a strong belief in the potential of everyone to achieve their employment goals.
    • Empathetic and compassionate: You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
    • Resilient and resourceful: You are able to work independently and as part of a team, problem-solve effectively, and navigate challenging situations.
    • Excellent organisational and time-management skills: You are able to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, manage your workload effectively and keep up to date on your administrative tasks.
    • Experience in employment support or a related field: Desirable but not essential



    The Team

    The Supported Employment Team are based within the Employment & Skills team, assisting local people to access employment via placements and traineeships hosted at external organisations or temporary appointments within the Council. We work with clients who may need additional and targeted support such as care leavers, people with learning disabilities, women returning to the labour market, people aged 50plus and any other group who is furthest from the labour market.

    This Connect to Work Employment Specialist role is a 6-month fixed term contract.
