Being a Contact Handler means you are the first point of call for our communities when they need us the most.
You’ll be part of a dedicated team dealing with emergency situations, identifying incidents, assessing risk, protecting the vulnerable and preventing harm. Your adaptability, compassion and calm approach will be vital.
Working side by side with police officers and staff, you will ensure all 999/101 emergency and non-emergency calls are handled quickly, professionally, and calmly.
You’ll be handling a diverse range of calls, often complex, from missing person reports to road traffic incidents and crimes unfolding in real time. You’ll be the first point of contact for individuals at their most vulnerable, ensuring you’re listening and accurately recording every part of the call.
This role has a fixed based at Force Headquarters, Leicestershire Police and is full-time.
The Shifts
- 24 hour, 7 days a week shift pattern
- Rotating shifts of 4 days on and 4 days off including evenings, nights, and weekends
- Typical shifts within the pattern are 07:00 - 19:00 or 19:00 - 07:00
Salary:
- Basic starting salary of £26,106 during training (approx. 11-13 weeks).
- Gross pay is around £33,718, including shift allowance and weekend working.
- The top salary for the role is around £38,103, and will be reached through annual increments over 5 years.
