Job summary
These roles are at the centre of the organisation’s corporate governance. The Corporate Governance and Executive Support function plays a vital role in ensuring effective governance and organisational leadership. These roles provide high quality strategic and administrative support to senior leaders, including facilitating well run governance meetings, maintaining robust records and decision tracking, and supporting the smooth flow of information across the organisation. They contribute to strong corporate governance by managing key governance processes, preparing briefings and papers, coordinating communications, and supporting Non Executive Directors.
Both grades require excellent organisational and communication skills, the ability to handle sensitive information, build strong working relationships, and balance competing priorities. They also promote continuous improvement, uphold organisational values, and help ensure governance arrangements are efficient, transparent and aligned with strategic objectives.

Job description
The Corporate Governance Officer (HEO) is responsible for managing the organisation’s corporate governance framework, ensuring effective strategic alignment, and overseeing high quality secretariat support across key boards, committees and executive meetings. The role provides strategic support to senior leaders and Non Executive Directors, manages core governance tools such as the corporate calendar and action logs, and ensures robust handling of declarations of interest, information management and governance documentation. It also includes leading and developing a PA team, fostering strong stakeholder relationships, supporting complex information requests, and contributing to wider organisational improvement.
The Executive Support and Governance Officer (EO) provides high quality administrative and governance support to the Chief Executive Officer and the wider Strategy and Corporate Governance Team, ensuring the CEO can meet their corporate governance responsibilities effectively. The role includes managing correspondence and the CEO’s diary, preparing briefings and papers, acting as a key communication link between the CEO and Directors, and delivering secretariat services for governance meetings to ensure clear decision making and robust records. It also contributes to governance activities such as maintenance of governance documentation, and shared team functions.
Strong stakeholder engagement, customer service, organisational skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information are essential for both roles. These are very people centric roles requiring the successful candidates to be able to build relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.

Salary
New entrants to the Civil Service are expected to start on the minimum of the pay band. Internal rules apply to existing Civil Servants, i.e. level transfers move on current salary or the pay range minimum, transfers on promotion move to new pay range minimum or receive 10% increase. Either case is determined by whichever is the highest.
Salary for the HEO Grade role is £37,579
Salary range for the EO Grade is £30,735
There are three roles being advertised at HEO grade and EO grade:
2 x Corporate Governance Officer (HEO) – 1 x Permanent and 1 X 12 months FTC
1 x Executive Support and Governance Officer (EO) – Permanent
Working hours:
Standard working week is 37 hours, Individual must be available to work 9-5 on a Tuesday and Thursday, flexible working hours policy available including job share and part time at a minimum of 22.5 hours per week.
Office Attendance
This role is contractually based at our office in Bristol, 10-minute walk from Temple Meads train station. We recognise and value the mutual benefits of hybrid working and have a flexible approach to in person attendance, which can vary dependent on the requirements of individual business units, however this role will require individuals to be able to come into the office once a week, and who are able to work Tuesdays and Thursday from 9-5.
