The Role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Court and Community Supervision Team Manager to join our Youth Justice and Prevention Service, working with children and victims. We utilise ‘Child First’ approaches to help children achieve their best outcomes, to prevent offending and build safety for our communities.

In this role, you will be responsible for day-to-day operations and practice standards, along with continuous improvement and development of our multi-disciplined team. Equality, diversity and inclusion will be throughout the range of responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To provide expert guidance and advice on youth justice and safeguarding
  • Provide management to professionals and support individuals’ professional development
  • Establish and maintain appropriate links between other professionals to provide a clear understanding of each other’s priorities and ways of working and maintain a customer focus to the service
  • Help prepare the service for regulatory inspection and ensure best practice / lessons learned are shared with colleagues and partners to improve service delivery

This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.

This position is currently based at our Central Chambers in Weston Super Mare. Please be advised that this office will be closing in 2025/26. Consultation is currently underway to determine a new location for colleagues elsewhere within Weston Super Mare.

Work Style

However, please note that during the induction period, it may be necessary to spend more time in the office to support your learning and development. We are flexible and open to discussions about your preferred working style, and if you wish to be in the office more frequently, this can be negotiated.

This role falls into the category of Flexible Worker which means you can expect to work in the following way:

  • 2-3 days in the office
  • Works both from home and the office, depending on the task at hand.
  • Training is provided to help balance work-life and manage time effectively, with an emphasis on communication for team touchpoints and planning in-office days for collaboration.

About You

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about youth justice and prevention, and who possesses the following skills and experience:

Essential Criteria:

  • An approved relevant professional qualification and significant post-qualification experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding protocols and threshold levels
  • Experience in service development and embedding practice improvements
  • Practical experience in service delivery / development and in leading others to deliver the service
  • Ability to manage / organise own work and that of a team to meet agreed deadlines
