Cover Supervisor

We are excited to be adding to our team here at Lift Firth Park, we are seeking a cover supervisor on a 35 hours a week permanent basis. As a Cover Supervisor, you'll work across different subjects and age groups, using pre-prepared materials to keep lessons moving forward.

About the role

The role will cover classes during both planned and unplanned teacher absences, providing essential support across all subjects, ensuring students' learning progresses uninterrupted. By ensuring the classroom is a calm and focused environment, they contribute significantly to student achievement and advancement. Your contribution will ensure smooth delivery of; an excellent education to every child, in every classroom, every day.

• Guide students through lessons using materials prepared by teachers
• Support positive behaviour and create a calm, focused learning environment
• Help students with SEND to understand tasks and work towards their individual goals
• Provide feedback to teachers on how lessons went and any issues that came up
• Supervise students during breaks and lunchtimes when needed

We are looking for someone who

You'll have experience working with children and young people. You'll know how to build positive relationships with students and use different approaches to support good behaviour. Strong communication skills matter, as does the ability to work well as part of a team. Can you stay calm under pressure, adapt quickly to different situations, and approach each day with patience and empathy? Qualifications, skills and experience we are looking for:

• GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent)
• A levels or Level 3 equivalent
• Experience working with children and young people in a similar role
• Knowledge of a range of strategies to deal with whole-class behaviour and individual behavioural needs.
• Has UK right to work, as this position is not available for sponsorship

Lift Firth Park is a vibrant, mixed secondary school for students aged 11–16. Located in Shiregreen, Sheffield, we serve around 1,200 pupils and reflect a richly diverse community, with more than a third of students speaking English as an additional language.
