Are you enthusiastic about helping people and ready to kickstart your career in public service? Luton Council is looking for a Customer Services Apprentice to join our busy frontline team. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience while working towards a nationally recognised qualification.
About the Role
As a Customer Services Apprentice, you will be the first point of contact for residents, assisting with enquiries either face-to-face, by email or by telephone. You will play a key role in delivering excellent customer service, ensuring that every interaction is professional, respectful, and helpful.
Key Responsibilities
- Deal with public enquiries in a polite and tactful manner.
- Accurately gather and establish facts to resolve problems efficiently.
- Follow procedures and absorb latest information quickly.
- Use Windows-based systems confidently; basic keyboard and admin skills required.
- Undertake basic calculations (e.g. adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing).
- Take concise and accurate interview notes.
- Complete administration tasks including scanning, addressing, and indexing documents.
- Support service delivery during busy periods, which may require adjusted working hours.

About you
What we are Looking For
- Experience in problem solving and information gathering.
- Strong spoken and written English.
- GCSE pass in English & Maths or willingness to work towards this.
- Understanding of the impact of discrimination on service delivery and colleagues.
- Willingness and ability to travel across the Borough when needed.
- Residency in the UK for the past 3 years.
