Blacon High School is seeking to appoint an experienced, highly organised and analytical Data Manager and Data Protection Administrator to lead the strategic development and effective operation of the school’s data and information systems.
This is a key role within the school, providing accurate and timely information to support senior leaders, governors and staff in evaluating performance and making informed decisions. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the assessment data cycle, statutory returns, management information systems and the school’s day-to-day data protection administration.
We are looking for a confident data professional with excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex information clearly. You will be comfortable working independently, managing competing deadlines and handling sensitive information with discretion.
We are seeking candidates who:
- Have significant experience of working with school management information systems, such as SIMS, Arbor or Bromcom.
- Have advanced Excel and database skills, with the ability to analyse, interpret and present complex information accurately.
- Have experience of producing clear performance information, reports or dashboards for senior leaders and other stakeholders.
- Understand statutory school data requirements, including census returns and submissions to the Department for Education and Local Authority.
- Have a strong understanding of UK GDPR and appropriate data handling practices.
- Can manage a demanding workload independently, prioritise effectively and meet fixed deadlines.
- Can communicate confidently and provide guidance, training and support to colleagues.
- Are committed to safeguarding, confidentiality and the highest standards of professional integrity.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Leading the administration, strategic use and development of the school’s management information system.
- Managing the full assessment and reporting cycle across all key stages.
- Producing accurate performance reports and dashboards to support progress tracking, intervention and whole-school improvement.
- Completing and submitting statutory returns, including the School Census and Workforce Census.
- Developing and maintaining internal reporting systems, parental reports, student targets and data dashboards.
- Acting as the school’s Data Protection Administrator and working with the external Data Protection Officer to support compliance.
- Maintaining the Record of Processing Activities and Data Asset Register, and coordinating Subject Access Requests and data breach processes.
- Providing training and support to staff on management information systems and data protection practices.
- Supporting the construction and maintenance of the school timetable.
- Improving and automating data processes to reduce workload and strengthen data-informed decision-making.

Salary range
- £31,537 - £34,434 per year
