The work we do in DBT helps businesses in all parts of the UK to grow domestically and internationally, creating higher paying jobs and strengthening communities. The Domestic and International Markets and Export (DIME) Group plays a vital role in advising, supporting, and promoting UK businesses to grow and export, delivering economic growth through our network of colleagues across the UK and overseas.

This is an exciting time to be part of DIME’s Exports Directorate, which supports SMEs to export across the globe. We work across DBT to support some of the highest value campaigns and business deals, and our export services offer support to all businesses, whether they are small, start-ups, medium or large, new or experienced exporters.

You will play a pivotal role in planning, collaborating on, and executing a programme of business engagement and export events working with partners within and outside of government and across the private and public sector. You will collaborate with others to use events and engagement (including delivering high impact communications and campaigns via our specialist communications colleagues and teams) to improve the reach and impact of export support, and using the insights from each event to develop either the HMG support offer directly, or build out the delivery landscape beyond government and into our partners and their work and operations. This role is critical in building out understanding of our export support services, demonstrating the global impact of UK exporting, and continuously working with businesses to engage them, help them make the right connections including with our overseas networks, and deliver a programme of exciting and high-impact events which build confidence and pride in the UK’s exporting strengths and case studies.

You will work in close collaboration with your colleagues in the Export Strategy, Export Pilots and Partnerships, and Service Design and Delivery teams to amplify the reach, impact and results from export support, demonstrate tangible delivery, and be part of building confidence and courage in the strengths of the UK on the global stage.

Job description

You will have responsibility for designing, planning and delivering events aligned to the Board of Trade activity (such as 2025’s “Great British Pitch” event Small Business Britain , Champion. Inspire. Accelerate.) and a programme of event roadshows across the UK aligned to our exporting priorities and the Industrial and Trade Strategies. You will work at close quarter with Ministers, senior business leaders, and our most influential partners as well as delivery teams and in the small business landscape so the ability to flex between strategy and detail, and “roll your sleeves up” and get directly involved in the delivery for which you are accountable is critical. You will have ample opportunity to engage with the overseas network and deliver “supply and demand” led partnership events which seek to bring the best of UK exports to a global stage. You will also lead on our communications engagement, the oversight of collateral and production of events, and management of stakeholders throughout the customer journey in attending and benefiting from the events programme, with lead accountability for amplifying the messaging and successes from each using case studies and business testimonies amongst other things. You will need to have a clear understanding of the importance of protecting data and of data sharing agreements and rules for this reason.

This is a fantastic major role, with the opportunity to showcase your own strengths and leverage existing relationships to deliver for UK businesses, domestically and in our overseas networks.
