
Deputy Headteacher
We are recruiting a Deputy Headteacher at Cwmcarn Primary School.
Salary – Teachers Pay Scale – £61,198 (L7) - £67,531 (L11)
Start Date – September 2026 (Pending safeguarding clearance)
Contract Type - Permanent, Full Time
Closing Date – Thursday 19th February
Applications are invited from dynamic, experienced and suitably qualified Teachers for the post of Deputy Head Teacher of this successful Primary School. The school provides education for boys and girls between the ages of three and eleven.
The school is situated in Cwmcarn Village within the Caerphilly Local Authority area. It is a mainstream setting that also hosts three Local Authority Special Resource Bases.
The Estyn Inspection Report from September 2024 states that:
Cwmcarn Primary School is a happy, inclusive learning community where pupils feel safe and secure. The headteacher, governors and staff are very proud of the school and share a vision that focuses on the well-being and progress of all pupils, including those in the Special Resource Bases (SRBs).
Working relationships between staff and pupils are strong and these contribute positively to the way pupils behave in and around the school. Pupils are polite and courteous to each other and other adults. They are confident when discussing their work and keen to explain what they are doing and what they have learnt to their peers and staff.
Pupils and staff treat each other with respect and fairness. They discuss equality, diversity, identity and LGBTQ+ matters confidently, sensitively and with mature understanding. The provision for pupils with additional learning needs (ALN), particularly those in the SRB classes is highly successful.

Shortlisting will take place on 25th February
School visit and School Council interviews will be held on 3rd March.
Formal interviews will take place on 10th March, with lesson observations for all candidates conducted prior to interview.
