If so, there is a brilliant opportunity as a Deputy Infrastructure & Logistics Manager with RAF Air Cadets (RAFAC) in the South West region.

RAFAC is a youth organisation sponsored by the Royal Air Force, which is formed of the Air Training Corps and RAF Sections of the Combined Cadet Force. The administration of RAFAC is managed by a mix of military and civil service personnel, who play a key role in delivering world-class training and activities to thousands of cadets. Cadet life is all about challenge, excitement, and adventure. Cadets have many opportunities including UK and overseas camps, leadership courses, air experience flights and pilot training. The Deputy Infrastructure & Logistics Manager role offers the opportunity to support and enable the delivery of the cadet experience by ensuring they have the facilities, equipment and transport necessary to make the most of these exciting opportunities and challenges.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join RAF Air Cadets (RAFAC) as a Deputy Infrastructure & Logistics Manager to assist with overseeing 170+ cadet locations and provide logistical support to the cadets and volunteer staff in the SW Region, covering Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Bristol, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Devon, Cornwall, the Channel Islands and Isle of Wight.

The successful candidate will be responsible to the Infrastructure and Logistics Manager SW for:

  • Providing advice on all infrastructure matters and managing a logistics supply chain, so that the volunteer estate in the region is maintained in line with statutory, MOD and RAFAC regulations, and the volunteer staff and cadets are supplied with the uniform and other logistical support, including transport bookings they require.
  • Providing oversight and delivery on all regional infrastructure and logistics matters.
  • Developing effective working relationships with all volunteers and permanent staff across the region, as well as external stakeholders and delivery partners.
  • Managing the Low Value Minor New Works programme and having oversight and monitoring of all building fault reports, ensuring they are followed through to resolution.
  • Managing specific estates projects depending on the complexity of the subject matter.
  • Managing inventories, the oversight of transport bookings and the oversight and coordination of uniform and other logistics requests.
  • Line management of up to 3x AO administrative staff.
  • Deputising in the absence of the Infrastructure and Logistics Manager.

Person specification

The ideal candidate should be a great written and oral communicator. You must be well organised, proficient in time management, and flexible in your approach to problem solving. Effective information technology skills (including Microsoft Office) are essential. Knowledge of project and estate management is desirable but training in these areas can be made available.

Whilst there are opportunities to work flexibly, the successful candidate will be required to travel to sites across the SW region including the SW Region HQ in Devizes, as required. A driving licence is required due to the location of many cadet units.
