Are you a motivated and experienced social care professional looking to take the next step in your leadership journey? Come and join our enthusiastic team as a Deputy Team Manager within Adult Social Care! Operating within in a supportive environment, you will get to work flexibly with our diverse communities and ultimately play a key role in driving performance and supporting staff.

In this pivotal role, you’ll support the Team Managers in leading and developing a dedicated team working across a specific geographical area and/or service area. You will provide expert guidance, supervision, and support to ensure practice is in line with the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and other relevant legislation.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting the continuous improvement and operational success of the team
  • Providing day-to-day supervision and oversight of staff, ensuring high-quality, person-centred practice
  • Managing performance, quality assurance, and service delivery to meet targets and uphold standards
  • Identifying areas for improvement and supporting the implementation of change
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the service to ensure consistent and effective support for adults in need
  • Deputising for the Team Manager when required and providing flexible cover across the service area as needed

About you

You are a dedicated and experienced adult social care professional with extensive post-qualifying experience and a strong background in reflective practice and service-specific knowledge. You bring a deep understanding of the Care Act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, and other key legislation and guidance, with a clear commitment to embedding this into everyday practice.

With a proven track record in managing and developing staff, you are confident in leading learning initiatives, setting clear standards, monitoring quality, and challenging practice to drive continuous improvement. You have experience in financial oversight, supporting your team in delivering outcome-focused, strengths-based, and cost-effective assessments and support plans.

You’re a confident leader who can support the Team Manager in motivating a high-performing team, representing the service at both internal and external meetings, and working collaboratively across services. Your approach is partnership-focused and integrated, with the goal of achieving the best possible outcomes for individuals and the wider community.

You hold a recognised Social Work qualification registered with Social Work England, or a professional qualification in nursing or occupational therapy, alongside substantial and relevant post-qualifying experience in adult social care.

Application process

Because of the nature of this job, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore applicants are required to declare all unspent cautions and convictions; and also any adult cautions (simple or conditional), and spent convictions that are not protected as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2020). A person’s criminal record will not in itself prevent a person from being appointed to this post. Applicants will not be refused posts because of offences which are not relevant to, and do not place them at or make them a risk in, the role for which they are applying. However in the event of the employment being taken up, any failure to disclose such offence, as detailed above, will result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Authority.
