Ashley is an ‘Outstanding’ secondary school for pupils with social communication difficulties and autistic spectrum condition age 11 - 19. The school offers excellent accommodation and specialist teaching areas. We are committed to high standards of achievement, both personal and academic.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and adaptable Design and Technology Teacher and Coordinator to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to lead and develop Design and Technology across the school, inspiring creativity and practical skills in our students.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach and coordinate Design and Technology for KS3 and Entry Level/Level 1 qualifications
- Use and oversee the maintenance of tools and machinery associated with Design and Technology workshops safely and effectively.
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of students with autism and communication difficulties.
- Contribute to a flexible curriculum and, where needed, teach other subjects at KS3 or Entry Level.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to create a positive and supportive learning environment.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified teacher with experience in Design and Technology.
- Skilled in using workshop tools and machinery.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students who have additional needs.
- Experience of working with children with ASC and/or social communication difficulties
- Adaptable and creative, able to take on a variety of roles within a dynamic school setting.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Salary range
