Job summary

DI is responsible for providing timely intelligence products, assessments and advice, giving perspective to the diverse and complex challenges Defence faces in a rapidly changing world.
Defence Intelligence Operations (DI Ops) is the nerve centre of Defence Intelligence. Empowered by the Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI) with a raft of authorities, it leads the prioritisation and coordination of collection and analysis activities across Defence.
DI’s Intelligence Support to Targeting and Effects Mission Team (DI ISTE MT) have an exciting opportunity available for an all-source analyst to join and develop their skills. The DI ISTE MT provides critical effects-focussed intelligence to directly inform decision-making across Defence, Government and Coalition partners and support operations.

Job description
DI ISTE has three disciplines, target systems analysis (TSA), target audience analysis (TAA) and target development and production (TDP). This post has the opportunity to sit in any of the above and move between them. Common to all, is the fusing of intelligence and using analytical methodologies to assess adversary systems or audiences and how they function, to identify how their behaviour may be affected.
ISTE provides essential support to operational planning, policy and decision-making customers and this role will see the analyst delivering against tasking objectives which cover a variety of themes.
Main Responsibilities:
- Delivery of timely, relevant and accurate all source assessment products and briefings.
- Engagement with customer communities, stakeholders and partner agencies.
- Collaboration with analysts across the mission team and wider intelligence community, including Defence, partners across government and international allies.-
- Maintenance of a robust audit trail on all analytical products in accordance with MOD, all source and ISTE MT standards, policy and procedures.
- Promotion of a positive and inclusive working environment for all.
- Line Management – the role does not currently have any LM responsibilities, but this could change in the future.

Essential criteria:
- Level 3 City & Guilds in Intelligence Analysis on completion of the Defence Intelligence Analytical Module (DIAM) or recognised equivalent e.g. Government Intelligence Analysis Techniques (GIAT) course, or an alternative Professional Head of Intelligence Analysis (PHIA) approved qualification (if not already held, must be achieved within 9 months of joining).
- Experience working with multi-disciplinary intelligence teams.
Desirable criteria:
- Experience working within the targeting discipline.
- Defence Intelligence Academy Targeting courses (can be completed within first 9 months of joining).
- Experience working within operational or strategic planning or delivering operational or strategic effect.
- Experience working across UKIC.
