Hertfordshire Growth Board
Hertfordshire Growth Board is the way the county is working together to deliver sustainable good growth for residents, communities and businesses. It is made up of the County Council, the 10 district and borough councils, the NHS Hertfordshire & West Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB), Homes England, Hertfordshire Futures, the University of Hertfordshire and the Police and Crime Commissioner.
The post-holder will provide digital marketing and communications support to Hertfordshire Futures and its brand family, and to Hertfordshire Growth Board. They will be an integral part of a small and friendly team, reporting to the Hertfordshire Futures Communications Manager, with plenty of scope to be proactive, work across a variety of exciting brands, and take ownership of their key areas of responsibility.
About the role
The primary responsibilities for this role are to:
- Write compelling digital news stories, social media posts, digital marketing copy and website content as needed, tailored to the appropriate audience and in the brand voice.
- Manage and implement the social media content calendar. Monitor performance and prepare monthly analytics reports, adjusting strategies as needed, in order to boost growth and engagement.
- Help to plan, script, and produce video content for social media and other digital platforms.
- Liaise with the wider team to develop content ideas to maximise the visibility of our brand family. Monitor brand family social media channels and amplify their activity to boost overall visibility and engagement.
- Engage with our online community on social media – respond to comments, follow targeted profiles, engage with partners’ posts, and share relevant partner content.
- Monitor mentions of the business and its brand family across media channels, sharing relevant news stories with the Communications Manager and wider team.
- Proofread content produced by partners or the wider team when required, ensuring it is accurate, meets our quality threshold, and adheres to branding guidelines.
- Update and manage our mailing list, ensuring compliance with GDPR.
- Keep the website and its CMS up to date, working with the Communications Manager and wider team to produce accurate, compelling, and easy-to-digest content.
- Optimise website content for search engines (SEO), use analytics tools to track and report on website performance, and proactively suggest improvements to boost user experience and engagement.
- Liaise proactively with our web support provider to resolve technical issues as they arise.
- Deputise for the Communications Manager at meetings as required.
About you
We are seeking a confident and capable wordsmith with a talent for creating engaging and shareable content.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable skills in digital content creation, social media management, and audience engagement, with an understanding of how to tailor messaging across platforms and audiences.
Essential Criteria
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Proven experience in producing digital content, including news stories, social media posts, marketing copy, and website content.
- Familiarity with analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics, Meta Insights) and the ability to interpret data to inform content strategy.
- Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to engage confidently with stakeholders and online communities.
- Demonstrable skills in managing social media channels, with evidence of boosting engagement and growth through planning and analytics.
- Ability to use and learn new IT systems and digital tools with confidence.
- A creative mindset with an eye for design.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and deputise for senior colleagues when required.
Qualifications & Experience
- A relevant degree in marketing, communications, journalism, advertising, PR or a related field, OR equivalent professional experience in a similar role.
- A passion for writing and content creation is essential.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with design tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and video editing software (e.g. Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro) to support visual content creation.
- Experience in video content production, including scripting and planning for social media and digital platforms.
- Working knowledge of website CMS platforms, with experience in updating and optimising content for SEO and user experience.
