Job summary

Across government, the success of digital and technology programmes depends not only on strategy and delivery leadership, but also on strong operational support and effective coordination. As organisations manage increasingly complex portfolios of digital, data and AI initiatives, robust project support is essential to maintaining control, ensuring consistency and enabling delivery teams to operate effectively. Ofgem plays a vital role in the UK’s energy system, protecting consumers and enabling a more secure, fair and sustainable energy future, and high-quality delivery support is key to achieving this.

Ofgem is on a significant transformation journey. Within the Digital, Data and Security Services (DDSS) directorate, we are delivering a broad portfolio of digital, data and AI initiatives while maintaining essential services and infrastructure. Supporting this delivery requires strong governance, accurate reporting and effective coordination across multiple projects and stakeholders.

As a Digital Project Support Officer, you will play an important role in supporting the successful delivery of digital projects. Working closely with Delivery Managers and Portfolio colleagues, you will help ensure that projects are well-organised, properly tracked and aligned with the Delivery Excellence Framework. You will contribute to maintaining delivery momentum by providing high-quality administrative, planning and reporting support across one or more areas of the portfolio.

This role offers an opportunity to develop experience across a wide range of digital initiatives within a supportive and fast-paced environment. You will build your understanding of project delivery while contributing directly to the success of the organisation’s digital transformation.

Job description

You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting planning and scheduling activities, helping to establish and maintain project timelines, milestones and dependencies.
  • Assisting in monitoring project progress, producing reports and maintaining delivery controls to provide clear visibility of performance.
  • Managing key project documentation, ensuring files are organised, accurate and maintained using appropriate version control practices.
  • Supporting the organisation and facilitation of project meetings, including preparing materials and capturing actions.
  • Maintaining stakeholder logs and supporting effective stakeholder engagement, escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Assisting with financial tracking, monitoring project spend and providing inputs to support business case development and financial reporting.
  • Maintaining risk and issue logs, ensuring they are up to date and that risks are escalated and managed appropriately.
  • Using digital tools and data to collect, analyse and present information that supports project tracking and decision-making.
  • Supporting adherence to governance processes and the Delivery Excellence Framework across projects.

We are looking for:

A proactive, organised and detail-oriented individual who is keen to build or develop a career in digital project delivery. You will be comfortable working across multiple priorities, supporting teams and ensuring that project information is accurate and up to date.

You may come from a project support, PMO or administrative background, but you will demonstrate:

  • Experience working in a Project Support or PMO role, ideally within a digital or technology environment
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills, with attention to detail
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
  • Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • An interest in digital delivery and a willingness to learn and develop

Experience supporting multiple projects, and experience in a government or regulated environment, would be beneficial.

This is an opportunity to play a valuable role in supporting Ofgem’s digital transformation. You will contribute to the effective delivery of projects that underpin critical services and help ensure that the organisation continues to deliver for consumers in a rapidly evolving environment.
