- Assisting the individual with accessing activities and spending time out in the community.
- Attending/transporting the individual to social activities
- Encouraging social interaction and inclusion and providing emotional support.
- Be motivated, proactive and able to work on their own initiative.
- Be patient, caring and understanding.
- Have good communication skills (clear and effective communication).
- Be able to build a positive relationship with the individual to both encourage and support them.
- Have previous experience supporting an individual with additional needs.
- Be flexible to accommodate the hours of work where necessary.
- Must have use of own car, to transport individual to social activities.
- Be a team player and able to work effectively alongside another worker as support is 2:1.
Hours of work
4 hours per week during term time and 8 hours per week in the school holidays.
About the recipient
The individual is male, 8 years old and resides in Bridlington. They require a dedicated and suitable person to support them due to having Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Non-verbal communication. Requires 24/7 supervision.
They enjoy activities involving movement, water play, music, TV/iPad, Fireman Sam and consistent routine.
They don't like wearing shoes, putting clothes back on after a change. They don't like walking; they prefer to be carried. They struggle with change in routine.
