About the role

Are you reliable and organised with experience looking after young children or people with a disability?

We are looking for a caring, reliable, and organised person to join a supportive family and help care for a gentle, sweet-natured 12-year-old girl with a disability. She lives in a happy, fully adapted home and loves being around people.

The role involves providing personal care within the family home, including dressing, showering, and supporting with feeding. Some of her nutritional needs are met through a PEG, so you will need to be trained in PEG feeding and epilepsy care or be willing to undertake training in these areas.

You will also help her access the community and enjoy activities she loves, such as trips to local cafes, the seaside, parks, and museums. She is sociable, has a lovely personality, and enjoys music, dancing, and sensory experiences.

Working hours are Thursday and/or Friday from 8:30am to 6:30pm during school holidays, with the option to work additional hours, including evenings and weekends, if you wish.

We are looking for someone who is able to assist with manual tasks, such as dressing and showering, and who has experience caring for children or individuals with disabilities. Parents are looking for a female worker due to daughter's personal care. A full, clean driving licence is helpful, as the child has her own fully adapted vehicle.

Hours Available are:

Term Time

• Tuesdays - 3.45pm - 6.15pm.
• Wednesdays - 4.30pm - 6.30pm.
• Thursday - 3.45pm - 6.15pm.

School holidays

• Thursday - 8.15am - 6:15pm.
• Friday - 8.15am - 6:15pm.

All year

• Alternative Sundays - 8.30am - 4.30pm
• Alternative Sundays - 12.30pm - 4.30pm

You do not need to be available to work all the available shifts. Please feel free to apply for as many shifts as you wish, please just state on your application which hours you are interested in working. Option to work more hours including, in school holidays, evenings and weekends if you want to. There will be opportunities to work more hours from time to time at your convenience.

Rate of pay:

£15.00ph. Plus 5.6 weeks paid holidays. Or £17p.h. If self-employed.

• Attending/transporting the individual to social activities and appointments.
• Encouraging social interaction and inclusion and providing emotional support.

About the candidate

The suitable candidate must:

• Be conscientious and committed to providing support as necessary for the child.
• Be patient, caring and understanding.
• Be able to build a positive relationship with the child to both encourage and support them.
• Be flexible to meet the needs of the family.
• Have knowledge of working with or supporting a child with special needs.

DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post - Cost to be met by the local authority.
