- Constant adult supervision to keep him safe due to lack of danger awareness.
- Clear, simple communication and patience to help him process instructions.
- Support with transitions between activities and changes in routine
- Encouragement and prompting with personal care and self-help skills.
- Support to manage sensory sensitivities (especially noise) and anxiety.
- Help to access community activities safely and positively.
- Be motivated, proactive and able to work on their own initiative.
- Be patient, caring and understanding.
- Have good communication skills (clear and effective communication).
- Be able to build a positive relationship with the individual to both encourage and support them.
- Have previous experience supporting an individual with additional needs.
- Be flexible to accommodate the hours of work where necessary.
Hours of work
8 hours per week during school term time broken down to: 1:30pm-5:30pm Sunday and 4pm-8pm Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
14 hours per week during school holidays broken down to: Mondays and Wednesdays 10:30am-3:30pm and Thursdays 10:30am-2:30pm
About the recipient
The individual is male, 12 years old and resides in Beverley. He has lots of potential with the right support and is making progress with his communication.
He loves being active and enjoys learning through play and activities. His favourite activities are tenpin bowling, swimming and going to the park. He enjoys train watching and dogs. He also enjoys baking and calm, structured home-based play, especially with a supportive adult alongside him.
He doesn't like being rushed or not having enough time to process what is happening. Unexpected changes in routine. Busy, loud or overwhelming environments.
