- Have good communication skills (clear and effective communication).
- Be able to build a positive relationship with the individual to both encourage and support them.
- Have previous experience supporting an individual with additional needs.
- Be flexible to accommodate the hours of work where necessary.
- Must have use of own car, to transport individual to social activities
Hours of work
6 hours per week in the school holidays.
About the recipient
The individual is male, 7 years old and resides in Driffield. They require a dedicated and suitable person to support them due to having autism, developmental delay and social communication difficulties.
They like to play with jigsaws, blocks, books and in particular his tablet and watching The Paddington Bear show. He loves to be running, jumping on the trampoline, playing, and exploring outside. He is very sensory, and likes tactile activities such as paint, water, sand, gloop, bubbles he seeks out sensory experience's lights and water.
He needs someone to help him stay safe when out in the community or and at home, sometimes he can get frustrated and throw objects, or refuse to go places. He needs someone who is patient, fun and will help him to experience new activities. He can become easily frustrated when he doesn’t understand what's happening, he needs someone to keep him safe both when outside and indoors. It is important that you support him with his independence, with personal care, and nappy changing.
