Title: Disrepair Inspector

Contract Type: 35 hours per week fixed term contract 12 months

Salary: £42,150 to £46,000 per annum dependant on experience. Plus £1,300 essential car user allowance

Grade: 8

Reporting Office: London, Stratford

Working Location: Out onsite – 3 or 4 days per week

Persona: Agile Worker: 20% - 40% of contractual hours to be worked from reporting office/working location (hybrid working)

The Disrepair Inspector role within L&Q is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and evolving team. As we introduce a number of new projects, this position offers the chance to play a key role in shaping service delivery and improving housing standards for our residents.

Joining the disrepair team means becoming part of a forward-thinking environment where your expertise directly contributes to maintaining and enhancing property quality. This role is crucial, as you will act as a representative of L&Q, carrying out both pre and post inspections to ensure that all works meet required standards.

You will be instrumental in safeguarding quality, identifying issues early, and ensuring that remedial works are completed effectively. Beyond the technical aspects, the role also provides a meaningful opportunity to support residents.

Your impact in the role:

The Disrepair Inspector plays a vital role in ensuring high-quality repair and maintenance standards across our housing stock. By carrying out thorough pre and post inspections, the role ensure works are completed to specification, contractors are held accountable, and residents engagement.

Working collaboratively with residents, contractors, and internal teams, the Inspector helps drive performance, improve service delivery, and reduce disrepair risk. Through accurate reporting, quality assurance, and proactive issue resolution, the role directly supports organisational targets, regulatory compliance and enhanced resident satisfaction.

What you'll bring:

  • Strong working knowledge of H&S legislation
  • Wide understanding of the building industry, including knowledge of materials, trades, methods and legal requirements
  • Ability to complete post and quality inspections
  • Experience in working with contractors and DLO
  • Communication skills including completing schedule of works
  • Strong customer focus and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to use full suite of Microsoft as well as DRS
  • Surveying skills
  • Knowledge of Health and safety and CDM
