    Domestic Assistant - Open Door

    Location:St Albans
    Contract Type: 15 hours per week, 3 hours per day
    Salary: £9,828

    Are you passionate about maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in a supportive environment? Join our friendly, dedicated team at Open Door, a vital Night Shelter service offering ensuite accommodation for 12 single homeless individuals in St Albans for up to 28 nights.

    As a Domestic Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring the shelter remains a clean, safe, and welcoming space for our guests. Your work will directly support the wellbeing of individuals experiencing homelessness.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including cookers, sinks, and worktops
    • Clean floors, skirting boards, doors, and internal windows
    • Disinfect bathrooms, toilets, showers, and communal areas
    • Dust, polish, vacuum, and empty bins in shared spaces
    • Clean empty rooms and office areas as needed
    • Monitor and request cleaning supplies under the direction of the Scheme/Operations Manager
    • Perform laundry duties (e.g., washing towels, bedding, tea towels)
    • Keep external areas tidy, including refuse zones and car parks
    • Ensure COSHH safety data sheets and equipment usage are up to date and compliant
