Do you enjoy working outdoors, meeting people, and want to help care for some of Wokingham Borough’s most valued green spaces? We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable Casual Duty Rangers to join our friendly Countryside Service team.

Based at Dinton Pastures Country Park, you will help look after more than 35 green spaces across the borough, including country parks, nature reserves, Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspaces (SANGs), and over 150 miles of Public Rights of Way.

No two days are the same in this varied outdoor role. Duties may include:

  • Opening and securing parks, gates, and buildings
  • Visiting sites across the borough to undertake inspections and safety checks
  • Litter picking, bin emptying, and maintaining clean, welcoming spaces
  • Grass cutting, strimming, and general grounds maintenance
  • Basic play area inspections and maintenance
  • Responding to visitor enquiries and providing excellent customer service
  • Assisting with events, activities, and site bookings across the countryside service
  • Supporting land hirers and event organisers to help ensure activities run safely and smoothly
  • Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of our countryside sites

We are looking for people who:

  • Enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Are practical, proactive, and able to work independently
  • Have good communication and customer service skills
  • Can work flexibly, including weekends and some bank holidays
  • Hold a full UK driving licence

Previous experience in countryside, grounds maintenance, parks, events, or customer-facing roles would be beneficial, but full training, uniform, and support will be provided.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in countryside management, parks, events, and conservation work, or for those who simply enjoy being outdoors and making a positive difference to local green spaces.
