Early years educator (permanent)

36 hours per week, term time only

Monday-Friday 8.30am-4.30pm

The children who attend our nursery school and children’s centre are engaging, creative and full of fun. Our committed and talented staff ensure all children learn, progress and thrive, and that they are ready for primary school. Our friendly children’s centre team supports young children’s healthy and happy development, offering extra help when families need it.

We lead the East London Research School, a thriving hub of evidence-based practice. We have also recently been designated a Stronger Practice Hub, providing the opportunity for further dissemination of the school’s excellent work to other settings.

Sheringham Nursery School and Children’s Centre serves a diverse community in Newham, east London. We work in close partnership with parents, families, the local authority and other organisations in the surrounding area. A commitment to serving this community, and a passion for overcoming disadvantage and barriers to achievement, is essential for any applicant for this role.

Sheringham isa highly successful Newham Nursery School, rated Outstanding by Ofsted. We have children on roll aged 2, 3 and 4 years old.

We are recruiting for a full-time early years educator with at least a level 3 qualification in childcare and early education (or equivalent), with successful EYFS experience in a school or setting. You might be experienced or newly qualified.

  • Are you a well-qualified early years practitioner with enthusiasm, energy and commitment to high quality early years education?
  • Do you have a sound understanding of child development, the Early Years Foundation Stage, experience of being a key person and a strong commitment to supporting children’s learning through play, inside and outdoors?
  • Are you positiveabout working in partnership with families in our diverse, multilingual community?
  • Can you promote the inclusion of children with special educational needs and disabilities?

You will:

  • be skilled at listening to children and having conversations with them
  • love playing with children and spending time outdoors with them in all weathers
  • be able to promote children’s learning through our broad curriculum
  • be able to maintain children’s journals to a high standard
  • be skilled and confident in working with parents
