Are you an organised, analytical professional with a passion for supporting children and families? Luton Council is seeking a proactive and skilled Elective Home Education (EHE) Coordinator to oversee the effective administration of our EHE service.

As EHE Coordinator, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient and accurate management of elective home education records. You will be responsible for maintaining up-to-date data, producing statistical reports, and ensuring all enquiries, including Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, are handled promptly and professionally.

You will also provide vital support to the Access to Education Manager, particularly in relation to the Pupil Placement Panel, helping to ensure processes run smoothly and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain accurate EHE records and data systems
  • Compile and analyse statistical information for reporting purposes
  • Respond to enquiries, complaints, and FOI requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Support the Access to Education Manager and contribute to the Pupil Placement Panel
  • Monitor safeguarding risks, including potential education neglect, and escalate concerns appropriately
  • Develop, review, and improve administrative systems and processes
  • Prepare clear reports and correspondence for a range of audiences, including senior management

About you

You will bring:

  • Proven administrative and problem-solving experience
  • Experience in developing, reviewing, and implementing systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive and complex situations
  • Experience responding to public enquiries and complaints, both verbally and in writing
  • The ability to manage and prioritise workloads, including coordinating the work of others
  • Strong numeracy skills and a methodical, accurate approach
  • Advanced ICT skills, including the ability to analyse and present data
  • The ability to work collaboratively and supportively within a team
  • Experience managing, developing, or motivating staff
  • Confidence in dealing sensitively with challenging situations, including working with frustrated or distressed parents

Knowledge & Understanding

  • Awareness of legislation relating to elective home education and safeguarding
  • Understanding of equality and diversity, with a commitment to inclusive service delivery
  • Ability to identify and respond appropriately to discrimination in service provision
  • Some understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience
