The role:
The role of Electoral Assistant is to provide support to the Elections Manager, the Assistant Elections Manager and the team in carrying out all the functions relating to elections and electoral registration.
The Electoral Assistant will assist in the delivery of all elections and electoral registration requirements in Liverpool.
In the role of Electoral Assistant, you will assist in all aspects of electoral work in relation to ensuring the smooth and efficient running of all elections and referenda held within the City of Liverpool and carry out all functions of electoral registration work from processing various applications to maintaining the accuracy of the electoral register.
The role of Electoral Assistant is to support the Electoral Services Manager and senior staff with the organisation and planning of all elections and to deal with postal votes, proxy votes, overseas electors and voter authority certificate applications.
Your demonstrable knowledge as an Electoral Assistant will be good communication skills, both orally and in writing and able to communicate effectively with staff, managers, councillors and members of the public. You will also have the ability to work in and contribute to a team environment.
The role of Electoral Assistant is varied; and we require a motivated and enthusiastic person to work as part of the existing Electoral Services team. You will be required to assist with the production of the Register of Electors and the efficient organisation of all Local, Parliamentary, Mayoral Elections and referenda held within the city, including assisting with the booking of polling stations and the appointment of staff. You will ensure that all electoral registration applications, postal vote, proxy vote applications, overseas applications & voter authority certificate are processed throughout the year & assist in the publication of the electoral register.
Although no experience is necessary, the successful candidate must be able to perform demanding assignments under pressure and to strict deadlines and be willing to work outside of normal hours and weekends at certain times of year, as and when required.
