Job summary
The Establishment Fire Focal Point supports RAF Leeming by implementing, managing, and maintaining the Fire Safety Management System. Elevating issues to risk holders as required. The role includes ensuring all buildings have up‑to‑date Fire Risk Assessments, monitoring associated action plans supporting building custodians and conducting first‑party audits to confirm fire safety measures are being effectively managed.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
The Establishment Fire Focal Point supports RAF Leeming by implementing, managing, and maintaining the Fire Safety Management System. Elevating issues to risk holders as required. The role includes ensuring all buildings have up‑to‑date Fire Risk Assessments, monitoring associated action plans supporting building custodians and conducting first‑party audits to confirm fire safety measures are being effectively managed.
- To advise and assist building custodians with the development of fire orders and evacuation plans and assist with fire evacuation drills. Distributing Fire Safety information to relevant stakeholders.
- To track that building custodians have been appointed highlighting gaps to CoC and keeping records and assisting with the delivery of Fire Safety and building custodian training.
- Act as building custodian for designated complex or critical areas.
- Maintain strong communication links with Fire Safety SMEs, SHSA, and Infrastructure personnel.
- Support fire emergency planning and exercises, including managing fire pack‑ups held at the guardroom or main entry point.
- Access any building on RAF Leeming as required to verify that fire safety systems and management arrangements are being maintained.
- Liaise with the Central Fire Safety Organisation (CFSO) and prepare documentation for 2PA (RAF Safety Centre) and 3PA (DFSR) audits.
- Ensure full compliance with AP 8000 fire safety leaflets and relevant Defence fire safety regulations.
Person specification
The successful candidate will understand fire safety principles, with the ability to implement, maintain, and audit fire safety systems while confidently liaising with key stakeholders and end users. They must demonstrate strong organisational and communication skills, be capable of maintaining accurate records, interpreting audit findings, and ensuring corrective actions are completed.
Competence with Microsoft Windows systems, is required.
A full UK Driving Licence is essential.
As is either holding a Level 3 qualification in Fire Safety or demonstrating a willingness to achieve this within six months of appointment.
Experience in emergency planning, evacuation drills, and preparation for assurance visits is desirable, as is familiarity with Defence fire safety policy and AP 8000 requirements.
