Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to work in one of the busiest and most high-profile communications teams in Whitehall, playing a direct role in delivering external media events for Ministers. The post holder will receive an additional out-of-hours allowance and will travel within the UK. Reporting to a Senior Events and Visits Manager, the key accountabilities are:

1. Plan, co-ordinate and lead on high quality media events and visits for Ministers, including the Chancellor of the Exchequer, in order to deliver policy and communication objectives. Lead on visits/events on a rotating basis and provide support to other team members when needed.

2. Working closely with campaign and digital teams in comms to identify announcements suitable for media and digital visits.

3. Work in a team and individually to identify, recce and advance venues ahead of UK-based Ministerial visits and events.

4. Travel with the Chancellor of the Exchequer/Ministers to ensure that they are well supported and briefed, that logistics and media operations are effectively executed and risks mitigated.

5. Work closely with Ministers, Special Advisers, Private Office and policy colleagues from within the Treasury and across government.

6. Manage key stakeholders from a variety of sectors across industry to help support future visit opportunities. Maintain and develop key contacts, databases and organisational tools, including a forward look grid, for use across the team.

Reserve Lists

You will be placed on a reserve list if your application is successful, but we cannot offer you a role immediately. Internal Fraud Database Check

National Security Vetting

Everyone working with government assets must complete Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks. Additionally, successful candidates will be subject to National Security Vetting. The level of security vetting required for this role is Security Check (SC).

To allow for meaningful checks to be carried out, applicants will need to have lived in the UK for at least 3 out of the past 5 years. You will be asked to provide residency information within your application form, and eligibility for national security vetting will be checked once the advert closing date has passed.
