Are you organised, calm under pressure and confident working with groups of young people? We are looking for an Exam Invigilator to join Lift New Rickstones and help ensure examinations run smoothly.

About the role

As an Exam Invigilator, you will work under the direction of the Exams Officer to help create a calm, secure and well organised examination environment. You will prepare rooms, check candidate identity and attendance, distribute exam papers and materials, explain procedures clearly and record exam start and finish times.

During examinations, You will supervise candidates, maintain appropriate exam conditions, respond to queries without compromising exam integrity and record and report any incidents. You will also collect scripts and materials at the end of each exam and help restore the venue where required.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare examination rooms in line with seating plans and exam requirements
  • Check candidate identity and attendance and distribute the correct papers and materials
  • Give clear instructions to candidates and ensure examination regulations are followed
  • Supervise candidates throughout examinations, maintaining a calm and secure environment
  • Respond appropriately to queries, disruptions and emergencies and report incidents
  • Collect examination papers and materials securely and support the clearing of examination venues

What we're looking for

  • Experience of managing large groups of people
  • Good literacy and communication skills, with the ability to give clear and unambiguous instructions
  • The ability to follow schedules and deadlines, solve problems and use initiative within established procedures
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach, including when dealing with unexpected situations
  • Strong teamwork skills, professionalism and the ability to build positive relationships
  • A student-focused approach and commitment to safeguarding, equality and inclusion
  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4 or equivalent, experience of working with children or in an education setting, and knowledge of exam procedures and protocols are desirable

About our school

Lift New Rickstones is graded ‘Good' (November 2023) and has a state of the art building offering fantastic facilities for both students and staff. Over the last 8 years the school has seen a huge increase in student numbers, with the number of students on roll more than doubling. The school is a popular choice in the local area, is oversubscribed, and has added another new building to meet this demand.
