Experienced Social Workers – Adults (5 positions) PO6

Wirral Council is seeking five experienced, dedicated, and compassionate Social Workers to join our Review/CHC Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a vital role in shaping personalised, strength‑based support for adults and carers across the borough.

About the role:

As an Experienced Social Worker in our Adult Social Care service, you will:

  • Deliver high‑quality assessments, support planning, reviews, and safeguarding work in line with the Care Act 2014.
  • Work collaboratively within our supportive Multi‑Disciplinary Team, contributing to case triage, daily huddles, and joint decision‑making.
  • Promote autonomy, inclusion, and positive outcomes for adults with complex or long‑term needs.
  • Contribute to multi‑agency safeguarding activity including MASH, MARAC and MAPPA.
  • Use your professional judgement to manage risk, communicate complex information, and provide clear, person‑centred recommendations.
  • Champion Wirral’s values and support continuous improvement within the team and wider service.
  • Work as part of an integrated and supportive team, planning, reviewing, monitoring and evaluating work. Co-ordinating/Signposting and referring on Individuals in collaboration with Multi-disciplinary colleagues and external services.
  • Review Placements/POC/Direct Payments/Supported Living/Day Care Services/ECH/1:1 support. Savings/Efficiencies.
  • Complete CHC checklists-Attend DST/MDT

About the candidate:

We are looking for practitioners who can demonstrate:

  • A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, DipSW, or equivalent) and registration with Social Work England.
  • Proven experience working with adults with complex needs, carers, and families.
  • Strong assessment and risk‑management skills using a strengths‑based, person‑centred approach.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Mental Health Act 1983.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a busy, supportive team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with confidence to chair meetings and navigate multi‑agency processes.
  • Commitment to CPD, reflection, and promoting high‑quality practice.
