Reception Class Teacher Vacancy

Part Time: 4 days per week

Maternity cover from September 2026 to April 2027

Whitby Heath Primary School are seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic teacher to join our team from September 2026 until April 2027 for a maternity cover. We are a forward-thinking school, with a leadership team who focus on staff development and aim to develop future leaders. The successful candidate will have demonstrated:

  • Experience and knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and the Reception curriculum
  • Highly effective teaching and learning strategies, including purposeful play, high-quality interactions and responsive provision
  • A strong understanding of early reading, phonics, communication and language development
  • Determination to enable all learners to succeed and ensure they achieve their full potential
  • A commitment to professional development, evidence-informed research and cognitive science
  • Excellent classroom management and effective deployment of support staff
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards and expectations for all
  • An ability to work effectively and contribute positively as part of a team

You should make very clear on your application your experience in Early Years and/or other relevant year groups and how this experience makes you ready for a Reception teaching post in our school. Applications will be considered from candidates with a range of experience.
