About the Role

We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our Finance team. This is a fantastic development opportunity for someone looking to build a career in finance, offering hands-on experience across both Accountancy and Exchequer services.

You’ll support a wide range of financial processes—from maintaining records and processing payments to assisting with budget monitoring and year-end activities—while developing valuable technical and professional skills.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organised, and eager to learn.

Essential:

  • Minimum of 4 GCSEs (or equivalent)
  • Basic understanding of local government (or willingness to learn)
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships
  • Positive, flexible approach with a “can-do” attitude
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and meet deadlines

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a finance environment
  • Experience using financial systems
  • Understanding of accounting processes
