
Finance Officer
An exciting opportunity has become available to work within the Finance Team at East Herts Council. As a Finance Officer reporting to the Group Accountant (Revenue & Capital) you will contribute to the revenue and capital monthly budget monitoring process, modelling of fees and charges and setting the annual budget. You will also assist in maintaining the budget monitoring system.
What will you be doing?
- support the Assistant Director for Finance and Group Accountants in providing accurate and timely information for the monthly budget monitoring process, ensuring effective control and use of financial resources
- supporting services and budget managers with accurate financial information
- undertake financial reconciliations
- assist with the production of the budget
- assist with the closure of accounts and production of the Annual Statement of Accounts
- assisting with the administration of the Council’s Treasury Management Cash flow and Banking arrangements, ensuring the treasury management systems are kept up to date
About you
As an ideal candidate, you will have:
- AAT qualification (part or fully qualified)
- experience of working within a finance environment and a good understanding of accounting principles and processes, including reconciliations
- the ability to work well under pressure and organise your time efficiently
- an understanding of accounting principles (debits, credits, accruals, etc)
- confidence using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and outlook) and ability to use other financial systems for data enquiries and input
- enthusiastic and passionate about working in local government
- excellent communication skills
