Fire Risk Assessor
We’re recruiting a Fire Risk Assessor to join our Fire Safety Team and help keep our residents, visitors and buildings safe. This role is central to delivering a high‑quality fire risk assessment programme and supporting our wider compliance and safety objectives.
You’ll carry out fire risk assessments across our properties, working closely with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure risks are clearly identified, recorded and managed. We’ll fully support you with training and development, including working towards professional membership (ideally with the Institute of Fire Engineers) and, if you wish, Third Party Accreditation and inclusion on the National Fire Risk Assessors Register.
About the Role
As a Fire Risk Assessor, you’ll take responsibility for assessing fire risks within a nominated portfolio, producing clear, timely and pragmatic FRA reports that enable effective action planning and delivery. You’ll manage your own workload, working independently for much of the time while contributing as part of a collaborative and high‑performing fire safety team.
You’ll play an important role in strengthening our fire safety culture, supporting continuous improvement and ensuring our customers feel informed, supported and safe in their homes.
What you’ll do
You’ll undertake fire risk assessments, review existing fire precautions and ensure high‑quality reports are uploaded accurately and on time to support the Fire Safety Team and Delivery Teams. You’ll work with fire risk assessment systems, prioritise work where needed, and liaise with operational teams to help resolve issues efficiently.
You’ll build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, provide clear and proportionate advice to customers, and contribute to quality assurance by sharing best practice and learning across the team. With support, you’ll continue to develop your skills, knowledge and professional standing as the team and service evolve.
What you’ll need
You’ll be an experienced and competent Fire Risk Assessor, confident working independently, managing competing priorities and delivering high‑quality fire risk assessments to agreed timescales. You’ll demonstrate strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to communicate fire safety risks and recommendations clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
It is essential that you have experience and knowledge of conducting fire risk assessments in residential premises, and can evidence this through your previous roles and portfolio of work.
You’ll hold a NEBOSH Fire Safety qualification (or equivalent) and be operating at a minimum of Tier 2 Fire Risk Assessor level, with evidence of appropriate specialist training, relevant experience and/or third‑party certification.
Membership of a professional body such as the Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE), or a clear commitment to working towards this, is important. A driving licence is useful but not essential, as public transport will normally be used.
