Starting Salary: Grey Book £41,322 Crew Commander Development to progress to £43,104 Crew Commander Competent per annum (pro rata for part time)/ Green Book £31,537 progressing to £34,434 per annum (pro rata for part time)
Hours: Grey Book 42/Green Book 37
Location: Stevenage - Hybrid

About the team

Join our dedicated team committed to reducing fire risk and ensuring public safety across Hertfordshire. We work collaboratively with businesses, statutory bodies, and the community to uphold fire safety standards and provide expert guidance.

About the role

As a Fire Safety Advisor, you’ll carry out inspections of simple premises to assess fire risks and ensure compliance with safety regulations. You’ll produce clear reports, and provide expert advice to businesses, the public, and internal teams. Your role will also involve reviewing safety measures in licensed premises, supporting legal processes, and contributing to strategic projects that help keep Hertfordshire safe.

We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented individual with a passion for public safety and a strong understanding of fire safety principles. You should be confident in communicating technical information and capable of working independently and as part of a team.

About you

Essential Criteria

  • Ability to read and interpret simple plans and architectural drawings.
  • Strong communication skills across various levels.
  • Proficient in writing clear, concise reports and letters.
  • Competent in using IT systems including databases, word processing, and spreadsheets.
  • Willingness to use a personal vehicle for work duties.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal hours when required.
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable Criteria

  • Level 3 Certificate in Fire Safety (Fire Auditors) (QCF) or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of fire service operations and their interaction with fire safety guidance.

Please note that, depending on your current qualifications, you may be required to undertake an apprenticeship as part of this role.
